What we do, we do well!
In the Haarlemmermeerpolder at IJweg in Nieuw-Vennep, Peter Baars is the third generation entrepreneur. In around 1940, grandfather Thijs Baars started with arable farming and livestock farming. Father Henk Baars continued the mixed company in 1970 and extended the business with bulb cultivation in the seventies. In the early nineties, Peter joined the company
and slowly but surely the focus shifted to the outdoor cultivation of flowers. In the course of the years, arable farming, livestock farming and bulb cultivation fully disappeared.
What began with know-how from bulb cultivation developed into the cultivation of four varieties of robust summer flowers, with by now 35 years of experience. With the cultivation of Campanula, Alchemilla, Carthamus and Sedum we are a well known player on the market.
Processing Alchemilla flowers
Sustainable, environmentally friendly
To allow optimum growth of our flowers, it is important for our soil to be in top condition and vital without using any artificial methods. We select the best possible moments to plant and sow the flowers, under the most optimum weather conditions. In this, we allow ourselves to be guided by nature.
Our external professional cultivation supervisor scouts the crops and, where necessary, recommends minimally required amounts of crop protection and nutrition. Our modern machinery with GPS also contributes to an accurate use of crop protection and fertilizers, whereby waste is an absolute no-go.
There are almost four hundred solar panels on our company buildings, making us completely self-sufficient. Our business spaces are heated without gas, using a heat pump. Baars Bloemen BV has the required certificates that show that we are working in a socially responsible and transparent manner. We expect the same from the partners that we are working with.
